It has spawned sibling wine, beer and cider competitions in the city, and various events around the globe, such as the Berlin International Spirits Competition. Together these form part of the International Beverage Competition Series.

The USC Ultimate Spirits Challenge is one of the world's most renowned spirits competitions. It is held annually in New York and invites authoritative wine organizations and professionals to serve as judges. The competition uses blind testing to determine the aroma of the wine.

San Francisco World Spirits Competition are going to list every single “double gold” bourbon whiskey winner in one spot, so that you can get an idea of what’s hot right now in the world of bourbon whiskey in America.

Those entrants that are given a unanimous gold medal by the panel are given the distinction of a "double-gold" medal. Additionally, a "best in show" designation is awarded in each main category of spirits.
